Exposure Assessment of Airborne Bacteria Emitted from Swine Manure Composting Plant

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study was performed to investigate the distribution characteristics of airborne bacteria emitted from swine manure composting plants. The types plants selected for survey in this were as follows: screw type, rotary and natural dry type. Mean levels 7428 (±1024) CFU m−3 3246 (±1407) 5232 (±1217) respectively. Based on results obtained study, plant operated by type showed highest concentration bacteria, followed monthly August lowest November, regardless plant. respirable size accounted about 50% total. ratio total quantity 50%. correlation relationships between environmental factors (temperature, relative humidity, particulate matters, odor) not found be significant predominant genera identified Micrococcus spp., Staphylococcus Escherichia (E-coli) Enterococcus Enterobacteriaceae spp.

Effects of Swine Dietary Treatment on Odor and VOCs Emitted from Swine Manure

Odor and VOCs emissions associated with swine production facilities is a major concern for the swine industry. Swine manure is one of the major sources of odor from swine operations. Odor control approaches include ration manipulation, improved manure treatment processes, capture and treatment of odorous gases, and improved dispersion. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of low ...

Composting of swine manure spiked with sulfadiazine, chlortetracycline and ciprofloxacin.

The fate of chlortetracycline (CTC), sulfadiazine (SDZ) and ciprofloxacin (CIP) during composting of swine manure and their effect on composting process were investigated. Swine manure was spiked with antibiotics, mixed with saw dust (1:1 on DW basis) and composted for 56 d. Antibiotics were spiked to a final concentration of 50 mg/kg CTC+10 mg/kg SDZ+10 mg/kg CIP (High-level) or 5 mg/kg CTC+1 ...

Composting Unamended Chicken Manure

Normally, manures are composted with amendments. However, a large commercial egg producer in Ohio i s composting unamended chicken manure. Studies were done to characterize this composting, both in situ and in pilot-scale vessels. While overly wet material can hamper initial operation, the general progression dries the material and produces a granular output that is below 20 percent (wet basis)...

Spatial nitrifications of microbial processes during composting of swine, cow and chicken manure

Composting is a widely-used method to recycle the nutrients in livestock manure for agriculture. The spatial stratifications of microbial processes inside the manure particle that determine organic and nitrogen transformation are virtually unclear. Here, we show the evolution of the interior microenvironment of swine, cow and chicken manure by using microelectrodes during forced-aeration compos...

Effect of low initial C/N ratio on aerobic composting of swine manure with rice straw.

Two pilot composting experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of low initial C/N ratio on the composting of swine manure with rice straw by measuring physical and chemical parameters. The results showed that the thermophilic duration of bin 1 and bin 2 was long enough to satisfy the sanitary standard, and swine manure could reach maturity. Bin 1 containing larger amount of swine man...
